EDF Energy Services Creates Green Initiative for Digital Realty

EDF Energy Services, LLC, is delighted to assist Digital Realty in meeting its environmental and sustainability goals across its portfolio of data centers in the Dallas, Texas region.

As Digital Realty’s retail electricity supplier in ERCOT, EDF Energy Services is coordinating the delivery and supply of 260,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy annually, over a period of seven and a half years. This contract will supply approximately 30% of the company’s electricity needs in this market.
EDF Energy Services will also provide renewable energy credits as required over that time frame.

The renewable energy is being generated by Bearkat Wind Energy II LLC’s project in Glasscock County, Texas which will serve a portion of the power needed to operate Digital Realty’s 13 data centers in the Greater Dallas area. EDF Energy Services will also continue to supply the remaining energy necessary to meet all of Digital’s power requirements in Texas.

Today’s news builds on the announcement last week that Digital Realty has reached an agreement to supply clean, renewable energy for the company’s portfolio of data centers in the Greater Dallas area.

EDF Energy Services will begin making this renewable energy available to Digital Realty’s customers starting in June 2021.
